R.I.P., Alan Sawyer

My younger brother Alan Bruce Sawyer passed away Saturday night. He was born September 12, 1961, in Toronto, and died in that city June 8, 2013, at the age of 51.
Alan was diagnosed with lung cancer last September [2012], and by the time it was diagnosed, it had already metastasized to his brain, abdomen, and sternum. He passed away Saturday, June 8, at 10:00 p.m., at home, after a very rapid decline. He had been well enough to attend a play at the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, on Thursday night, and really only went into steep decline three hours before he passed away.
Alan was 16 months younger than me. A digital-content producer, he won an International Emmy Award for his work on the webisode companions for the TV series Endgame. He had no children, but is survived by his wife Kim. His website: twosolitudes.com
