Yo, Toronto: Ad Astra is next weekend!

Toronto's annual science-fiction convention, Ad Astra, is coming up in six days (March 2-4, 2007).

I'll be there, doing a bunch of programming, reading a chapter with naked people in it from Rollback, launching Phyllis Gotlieb's new novel Birthstones (which I edited), and just hangin' out and having fun. Come on out! It should be a blast.

(The launch for Phyllis is at 8:00 p.m. Friday night; my reading is Saturday at 11:00 a.m.)

Author Guests of Honour are Phyllis Gotlieb, Stephen Jones, and Cory Doctorow; Fan Guests of Honour are my great friends Lee and Chris Knight (pictured above); Ed Beard, Jr., is the Artist GoH. So come on down to South Park, and have yourself a time!

Note: the con is very close to the Ontario Science Centre, which currently has Marvel's Science of Superheroes exhibition on; that's where I'll be Friday afternoon.

Hi Rob,

Sounds like a lot of fun kind of makes me wish I was living in Toronto.

Up until the mid 1980's I was a huge Marvel fan but the cost/comic priced me out of the market.

What does a monthly Fantastic Four cost these days $3 bucks Canadian?

And I used to think .75 cents was too much.book

I haven't read a superhero comic for 30 years, but I really enjoyed the Spider-Man movies, and I will sing the Spider-Man theme song from the (Canadian-made) cartoon series at the drop of a hat:

"Spider-man, Spider-man, does whatever a spider can ...

"Spins a web, any size, catches thieves just like flies ..."

:)

Hi Rob,
Nice but I think the Ramones did it better but Frank and Gordon the 2 Beavers come in a close 2nd :-)

My Fav Marvel Superhero was Iron Man, I think he had more depth then the rest even though Nick Fury agent of SHIELD came in a close 2nd as well. I loved the Steranko artwork but my comic book days are long behind me.

Ad Astra... I had forgotten that it was coming up so soon. I think I'll make the trek over from Kitchener. Although for an hour and a half trip in each direction, I think I'll skip the friday night events.

See you on Saturday!
