Hi Rob,
That Ball looks like it's a first class gig. As an officer in my lodge, I'm required to wear a tux to every regular meeting once/month but since I don't look good in a tux much less a suit and it's not because I'm fat and have no teeth but they let me get away with out wearing the Tux ;-) Well, you'll see why when we meet May 1st.

Oh and belated Congratulations on the award win.

I still think the L Ron Hubbard Gold award/WOTF is the finest looking trophy in SF but since the ward is for literature I think its a huge bonus for SF and SF here in Canada. Horror/Fantasy, eat your heart out.

Yes, the Hubbard trophy iS GORGEOUS. My friend James Alan Gardner has one, and I've often admired it. Really beautiful.

SOME Hugos are gorgeous, too, as are most Nebulas -- but since all Nebulas are unique and the Hugo base design changes each year, there is obviously a continuum of attractiveness. I lucked out in both: my Hugo and Nebula trophies are among the nicest I've seen.

Hi Rob,
Sorry this is late. The only thing I ever win is the occasional donut or coffee in Tims "roll up the rim to win." contest.

Seriously though the Canadian Hugo's from looking at your recent one are a lot nicer then the American ones.

Seems to me we need a Canadian version of the WOTF contest. If I had deep pockets I'd be in there like a dirty shirt in the wash putting my bid in for one. Do you ever see anything like a WOTF Canada in the forecast?

Writers of the Future is an INTERNATIONAL contest, Jim, open to writers from anywhere in the world, and judged by writers from all over the world, including me (Canada), Sean Williams (Australia), and Anne McCaffrey (Ireland). There have been Canadian grand prize winners in the past (including James Alan Gardner), and the most recent grand-prize winner is from Toronto (Stephen Kotowych). There's no need for a separate Canadian contest.
