Habitable Planets for Man

Holy crap! Just discovered that the Rand Corporation has made its landmark 1964 study Habitable Planets for Man by Stephen H. Dole available for free as PDF (scroll down to the link to the free download, of just click here). This is it, folks, the world-building bible; I paid a fortune years ago for a used hard copy ... Enjoy!

This could be entertaining. I'll pass it along to OSFS!

Very cool! That looks like a very useful report. I'll pass on the link too.

I remember that book, from my youthful days at the University of Louisville. The Physical Sciences library had a copy, and I would check it out and look over the parameters, imagining a voyage to discover strange new worlds, new life and new civilizations (or even a decadent old one), boldly to go where no one had gone before! Er.

Much thanks to the folks at RAND and to Robert for pointing it out.
