no kidding, that and it's predecessor "The Maltese Falcon." I think the line “Play it again Sam” was never used if memory serves me. It was a Bogy myth.
What I liked about both films are the way their film noir aspects worked. Two of my favorite films of all time, next to Star Wars.
I have it on HD DVD - Wow! The extra detail is amazing. The set details and background activity adds to the three dimensionality of the picture.
One of my favourite movies. The dialogue is unsurpassed.
My favourite is The Shawshank Redemption.
Regarding "Play it again, Sam", Wikipedia sayeth: One of the lines most closely associated with the film—"Play it again, Sam"—is a misquotation. When Ilsa first enters the Café Americain, she spots Sam and asks him to "Play it once, Sam, for old times' sake." When he feigns ignorance, she responds, "Play it, Sam. Play 'As Time Goes By.' " Later that night, alone with Sam, Rick says, "You played it for her and you can play it for me." and "If she can stand it, I can! Play it!"
Nope. Citizen Kane all the way. And The Third Man.
It's a sweet movie, but I just can't see Ingrid hookin' up with Bogie.
