SFWRITER.COM > Novels > The Downloaded
Many of you have kindly asked for information about my next novel (which will be my 25th!). Here's the scoop:
It's called The Downloaded and I've completed the manuscript. It will be an Audible Original first; they made a very handsome offer to have it exclusively as an audio production for six months. After that, it'll come out in print and ebook formats.
For the Audible version, they've hired a great producer: Greg Sinclair, the former head of Radio Drama at the CBC. Greg will be using nine separate narrators (and he's got some big names in mind!), one to read each of the nine viewpoint characters.
As I understand it, the audio version will be an "Audible Original," free to anyone who has an Audible membership no Audible credit will be required for it.
As to what The Downloaded is about, well, rather than me trying to synopsize it, how about this? The Hugo Award-nominated writer Paddy Forde just finished reading it and he had this to say:
Rob, I've read a lot of "uploaded consciousness" stories in the past couple of decades, and I've always found them hard to relate to. So much of the post-human SF in the first decade of this millennium was terribly off-putting, unrelatable, mostly unreadable.
