Why I edit books ...
So, I sometimes get asked why I bother editing my own little line of books. After all, it's often frustrating, it's time-consuming, the pay is miniscule, and on and on.
But the answer is obvious to me when one of the new books arrives hot off the press. Today, I got my first copies of Terence M. Green's novel Sailing Time's Ocean, the latest release under my Robert J. Sawyer Books imprint. And it's gorgeous. A beautiful package, a brilliant book -- and I brought it to market. It's very satisfying ... :)

Years ago (when I was still a Creative Writing student) at WORD ON THE STREET I chatted with Mr.Green and found him gracious and warm-hearted in person -- the same elegant, understated tone that comes through in his novels.
Looking forward to reading this!
Will this one be available in both hard and softcover like the last one? I'll buy it in any case, but I definitely prefer hardcovers. They're built to last!

Since SAILING TIME'S OCEAN is a revised edition of an earlier novel by Terry (CHILDREN OF THE RAINBOW), we've taken the decision not to do a hardcover of this edition; it'll only be available as a trade paperback.
I always like to read new sf authors whenever I can. When will the book be availible?
It's actually an October release, I think. For once, we've gotten the books off the press early! :)
Is a book launch at Bakka or elsewhere planned?
Hi, Lou. No launch at Bakka. The official launch of SAILING TIME'S OCEAN is at Word on the Street, at the SF writers' booth, on Sunday, September 24, 2006; Terence M. Green will be there all day signing copies.
Great! I'll have to check it out.
Will you be attending?
I will not be at Word on the Street this year; I'm teaching SF writing in Banff up until the night before, and can't make it back to Toronto in time.
And let me say, from being on the inside, it can't be just personal satisfaction. There has to be a heck of a lot of generosity behind your actions, Rob. Otherwise, the metaphorical numbers just don't add up.
